Feral Cat Trap, Spay/Neuter, and Release Program (TNR)

The TNR program is available to individuals who need assistance sterilizing free-roaming feral cats. CAAWS loans out traps (refundable deposit required) and offers vouchers for the spay/neuter and rabies vaccination of feral cats in East Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes.

The cats must be returned to the location in which they were trapped after the surgery. Anyone who requests help should be able to transport the cats to and from the veterinarian. CAAWS can provide limited assistance trapping cats dependent upon volunteer availability. The TNR program has been proven to be the humane alternative of controlling cat reproduction and helps to reduce the euthanasia rates at local municipal animal shelters.

Our Trap-Neuter-Release Program has eliminated the reproduction of 1,265 cats over the past year. That has prevented the birth of over one million unwanted cats.
