We always want everyone to feel fully comfortable and confident in us and encourage a Doors Always Open Policy for all members of the organization and encourage you to let us know of any questions, concerns, complaints, etc, that you may have. This will remain fully anonymous, unless you choose to let us know.
Things to Remember: Updated 3/3/26
- NO human food. Pick up all food bowls by end of shift. Turn off dryer/ dishwasher/washing machine before leaving. Leave on radio, and in morning leave garage doors half open.
- KONGS: Do not stuff the Kongs with food, treats, meats, peanut butter, etc. This causes an issue where food stuck inside goes rancid and can make the dogs ill.
- Medical Issues: Always alert Julie by text to any medical issue. Soft stool, wounds, any odd behavior such as lethergy, noticing repeated notations of not eating etc.
- A Note on Doggy Field Trips: Please contact Julie and/or Kelly for doggy field trips. We and the dogs would LOVE for more people to take our pups out on field trips. To dog friendly coffee shops or restaurants, the park if appropriate, etc, we just need to know ahead of time. ALWAYS remember to note it in the log below with your name, the dog or dogs you’re taking, and a phone number you can be reached at. Remember only one dog per person.

Zoey’s lost tooth site is still bleeding a bit. Gave Patches a dry bath.
I let Kelly know that we need Clorox spray.
Beautiful morning, lots of outside time with individual play/loves with each doggy.
Messes: Dorff, Zoey, then Wendy later in the shift. Thanks Patty for the extra time out today!! I think it helped with messes a lot!

Dorff and Chuck were playing (?) the loudest game I’ve ever heard across the fence. Maybe we keep an eye when they’re across from each other to make sure it stays just playing?
Zoey’s poop looked pretty solid today!

Dorff did SUCH a good job on waiting for permission to pick up his toys today. Also NO inside messes during the shift!
Outside water buckets cleaned
Tues 1-2:20 Sun’s out, buns out! Everyone had a potty break and enjoyed a 30 minute sun bath. Kennels were clean. Finished up laundry.

Monday morning

Drako almost jumped the fence to get to landscapers next door. Scared me to death. Will put in back yard only on Monday mornings.
Gave meds. Kassi did not eat.
Little dogs love playing tug of war. Patches and Zoey played together for a long time.
Did regular chores. Dishwasher should be clean.
Messes: Dorff, Zoey (dogs were let out earlier in the afternoon, thank you!) Messes: Lucy, Zoey, Dorrf, Wendy (another poop accident and ate it), Patches. Zoey finished all her water again, might need bigger bucket. Zoey and Patches played outside together and that went well. Kassi, Patches, and Zoey got a rag wipe down. Wendy went on a walk (two laps). 2 loads of laundry washed and 1 dried. 1 Needs dried. Dishes Washed. Toys cleaned. Bedding was all switched out and washed. Isos sprayed.
Messes: Dorrf, Wendy (poop & pee, couldn’t hold it), Zoey (pee & poop but ate poop) Also pooped nonstop all shift. None of it was solid. Heavy rain at beginning of shift but eased up at the end for dogs to enjoy outside. Everyone ate, Dorrf got a slow feeder. Zoey pooped non stop but it was firm.
Bedding in kennels is freshly washed this morning.
Messes Dorff, Patches and Zoey every time I brought her back inside, no matter how long she was outside. It was all formed but soft. It rained the first half of the shift and the yards were completely flooded. Zoey very much enjoyed herself but not the hose done afterwards. Everyone ate meds given and chores done.

Put the 4 bags of dog food that were in the outside iso into the food cabinet.
Nice morning, lots of outside time but not much time for loves/play due to event at Women’s at 1030.

Stuff donated by the door. Put the blankets in the washer and the wet food, other stuff under the white board.
Ran two loads of laundry, but there was already laundry in the dryer, so now the dryers are full of wet laundry.
Messes: Dorf, Faith, Lucy, Zoey. Zoey had normal stool.
Everyone ate.

Laundry washed and dried. Second load needs to be started in dryer.

Worked with Dorf on sit and wait. I’m so proud of him!
Someone dropped off some food in ziploc bags. I put it on the white bench. He said it is Blue Ribbon duck.
It would be nice if we could get Zoey in a playgroup. Maybe get her with Kassi or Patches.

Lots of outside time, but pups were tired. I think adoption were busy.

Zoey has diarrhea again. Multiple times throughout shift so she stayed is ISO runs a lot. We gave her puppy food today as stated on feeding chart.
Worked with Dorrf on commands (sit, wait, stay, drop it) Doing very well.
Great day for adoptions. Pretzel and Luther have been adopted. Zoey and Mr. Biggs are pending and should be going during the week.
Messes in usual suspects. Probably more because of weather.
Meds given. Clean kennels and yard. Took out poop.
All ate well. Laundry in dryer to dry.
Messes Dorff, Kassie, Zoey, Pretzel and Lucy. Everyone ate and meds were given. Chores done. Wendy had soft stool tonight. It rained all night. Luther really enjoyed it. He ran around the yard like a mad man. Zoey loves being dried with a towel. Dishwasher did not see to cycle. Had to handwash dishes.
Wendy is at the shelter for the weekend.

Kascie is back from vet. She’s possibly pregnant, so we’ll have to watch her for a bit before we spay. Julie will set up ear medication for mild yeast.

Zoeys mess in her kennel was completely liquid, but the one outside was firm.

Patches ate all of her food, threw it all up, and then ate it all again.
Did dishes, clothes in the washer are clean. Need to be dried.

Adoptions went well. Topeka should be going in to foster with one of our volunteers soon. Luthor should be going after a vet check. Pretzel will also be going into adoption with another volunteer in the next week or so!

Julie said Zoey doesn’t need to go in ISO. And also we can transition her to regular food. Apparently she got in a birdfeeder and it upset her stomach.
