We always want everyone to feel fully comfortable and confident in us and encourage a Doors Always Open Policy for all members of the organization and encourage you to let us know of any questions, concerns, complaints, etc, that you may have. This will remain fully anonymous, unless you choose to let us know.
Things to Remember: Updated 11/9/24
- NO human food is to be given to any dogs, EVER.
- Pick up all food bowls by end of shift and wash out, unless directed specifically to do otherwise.
- All clips should be clipped in the back of the runs for the water bowls at all times.
- Slip leads or leashes must be used at all times to bring dogs in and out from the yards.
- KONGS: Do not stuff the Kongs with food, this causes an issue where rancid food is left in them for days which is disgusting and could cause a digestive issue. If a Kong has ANY damage, throw it out.
- Please turn off the large fan, dishwasher, washer, and/or dryer whether or not the clothes/dishes are done when you leave. It is a fire hazard to leave them on unattended.
- A Note on Doggy Field Trips: Please contact Julie and/or Kelly for doggy field trips. We and the dogs would LOVE for more people to take our pups out on field trips. To dog friendly coffee shops or restaurants, the park if appropriate, etc, we just need to know ahead of time. ALWAYS remember to note it in the log below with your name, the dog or dogs you’re taking, and a phone number you can be reached at. Remember only one dog per person.

No much time to play. Also, I wanted to wash Autumn due to he disaster she was jumping around in when I got here, but I didn’t have time.
Someone donated some kennels and food. I let the kennels outside by the door, and brought the food in next to the desk area.

keep an eye on Autumn’s front right paw–she was limping on it. We moved Mina/Scruffy to Jack’s old run (got Chyanne’s approval) since her old run was so hot

Gwen is getting aggressive play again with leash, also noticed she gets very assertive when apartments people come out. Any tips from seasoned folks?
Shelter swept. Not enough dishes or laundry to run. Puppy food needs fill, did not have code. ISO Sprayed, Yards scooped. Poop Bags to dumpster.
I don’t take the leash into the yard with me, I leave it at the gate. If she starts getting crazy, I make her sit and then give her a treat. Then I get to the gate quickly, get the leash and take her in. I repeat the sit/treat if I have to in order to get her out of the yard. Hope this helps, Elise
I will try that next shift. She was doing well for a while, until recently.

Messes: Autumn, Cinnamon, Cleatus, and Beowulf, (multiple times during the shift). Cleatus’ stool was soft but formed. Everyone ate, meds given chores done. Started raining and thundering and lightening around 7:15. No one wanted to go outside, I believe I am the reason Wolfie doesn’t want to leave his kennel. Last Friday night, his bowl got stuck under the door and when I opened it, it made a loud clang that scared him and he did not want to get out of the cage. I am sorry, I promise I did not mean to traumatize him.

Everyone ate well. Normal poops except someone is a little loose on the back yard.
Norma Jean is, inevitably, starting to tear her bed.
Brought in some tiny Milkbones.
Great to have the A/C working again!!

Cinnamon managed to get her run open. I think it was because the screws were loose on the latch. Please keep an eye on her (and her sister’s) latches. If they are loose, tighten them with a screwdriver from the toolbox in the bottom far-right cabinet. Messes: Autumn, Cinnamon, Beowulf, Fiona, Faith. Lots of poop. Loose stool from Fiona/Faith. Long post, sorry. Cleetus has been adopted! His run has been cleaned. Messes: Autumn (when we got here, there was something that looked like tree bark but we couldn’t tell if it was thrown up or pooped out. Meds given. All poop looked normal. Please keep an eye on Oreo’s incision since he just got fixed today. Also, he wouldn’t eat, but as soon as we added water he ate right up. Jack is no longer in foster and will be staying at the shelter for the time being. Absolutely no fault of his own. His foster is just traveling a lot right now and Jack is not coping well with the constant back and forth.
